Carpetdocia

We drew inspiration from Cappadocia. Designed for discerning souls.

ESTABLISHED 2023

Carpetdocia was founded in 2023 on the belief that a carpet defines not only a room’s floor, but also its sound. We took our name from Cappadocia. That landscape, where human hands forged the quietest accord with nature, is not a marketing image for us, but a design compass. Calm colors, measured geometry, and textures built to endure on the scale of a decade, not a season.

WHO WEAVES THE CARPET, AND WHERE?

ARTISANS AND LOOMS

WHO WEAVES THE CARPET, AND WHERE?

More than two-thirds of the rugs in our catalog are handwoven. They are woven on looms in Uşak and Anatolia, in Afghanistan’s Chobi and Ziegler tradition, and in the workshops of Jaipur, India.

We chose each region for what it does best: Anatolia for its heritage of motifs, Afghanistan for its natural dyes and Ghazni wool, and India for its finesse in bringing wool and silk together in a single knot.

We select our fibers with the same care. Traceable New Zealand wool, botanical TENCEL™ fiber produced in a closed-loop system, natural jute, and cotton. When the material gets cheaper, so does the rug. We have never made that calculation.

There’s no second one like it.

ONE PIECE

There’s no second one like it.

Every rug in the One of a Kind collection is a one-off production. There is no second piece like it, and there never will be. It is sold in the dimensions it came off the loom, with its own abrash and subtle asymmetries.

Our aim with these pieces is not perfection. The small variations that reveal a rug was handwoven are its signature. There is only one in stock. Once sold, it will not return.

OUR WORKING PRINCIPLES

THE PERSON BEHIND THE LOOM

We evaluate every workshop we work with according to the same criteria: working conditions, timely and full payment of wages, the absence of child labor, and workplace safety.

Our Sedex membership turns these criteria from a promise into an auditable record. We do not work with any workshop that fails to meet the requirements. This applies even when it means giving up a price advantage.

INDEPENDENT VERIFICATION

OUR CERTIFICATES

We do not verify our claims ourselves. The fibers we use, the fabrics we produce, and the supply chain we work with are audited by independent organizations.

  • OEKO-TEX® It certifies that our textiles do not contain chemicals or substances harmful to human health.
  • Sedex® It audits our commitment to responsible production and transparent trade principles at every stage of our supply chain.
  • Woolmark Confirms that the wool we use meets international quality standards.
  • Wools of New Zealand™ Guarantees the traceability of New Zealand wool from its source to the loom.
  • TENCEL™ It documents the closed-loop and environmentally friendly production of botanical fibers.
