Silk Road Series 100% Silk Handwoven Kilim – Beige (Beige)
The Silk Road Series Handwoven Kilim is a refined, delicate collection that brings the natural luster of silk to the traditional kilim form with its 100% silk texture. Its low-pile flatweave structure and density of 2000 g/m² provide a lightweight yet substantial drape, while the silk fiber’s changing sheen adds depth to the surface. Each handwoven kilim comes from the artisan’s loom with its own unique character. This variant features a warm, natural beige tone, offering an airy, timeless foundation enhanced by silk’s radiance.
What Is Silk?
Silk is a natural protein fiber obtained from the cocoon of the silkworm and is considered one of the finest and strongest natural fibers found in nature. Its distinctive triangular cross-section refracts light like a prism, giving silk a natural luster and tonal depth that changes with the light—something no other fiber can replicate. In the Silk Road Series, the use of 100% silk gives the kilim a silky fluidity, delicate sheen, and cool, smooth touch.
What Is a Kilim (Flatweave)?
A kilim is a traditional floor covering produced using a low-pile flatweave technique. Since it has no pile, it is thin, slides easily under doors, and can be laid and moved with ease. Both sides can be used, making the kilim both practical and durable. In the Silk Road Series, this traditional form is woven with 100% silk yarn, creating an elegant interpretation suited to contemporary interiors.
Silk Road and the Inspiration of the Silk Road
The series takes its name from the historic Silk Road, which connected East and West. For centuries, caravans carried silk, patterns, and craftsmanship to Anatolia along this route; the kilim is one of the most enduring legacies of this journey. By bringing this heritage together with a 100% silk texture, the Silk Road Series adds both the warmth of history and modern simplicity to living spaces.

How Should a Silk Kilim Be Cleaned?
Silk kilims from the Silk Road Series should be cleaned only by professional rug-cleaning companies. Silk fibers are sensitive to water, moisture, and chemicals; washing or wet cleaning at home is not recommended. For daily care, use a low-suction vacuum cleaner and gently dab stains with a slightly damp cloth without letting them set. This will help preserve the kilim’s luster and texture for a long time.

Protect Your Rug’s Elegance
A careful care routine should be adopted to preserve the original splendor and silky texture of Carpetdocia’s handwoven, natural-fiber creations—pieces that add value to your living space—for generations to come.
Immediate Action and Liquid Spills
When a liquid is spilled, timing is the most critical factor. Using a clean, slightly damp cloth, remove the liquid from the surface by gently blotting only—never rub. Always work in the direction of the rug’s pile (the natural direction in which the fibers lie). Rubbing can damage the structure of delicate fibers such as TENCEL™ and viscose. If in doubt, stop immediately.
Routine Care and Light Balance
For your weekly cleaning routine, always use vacuum cleaners with low suction power. High-powered upright vacuums and stiff brushes can damage the natural structure of handwoven yarns. To balance the natural fibers’ reaction to light and prevent uneven color changes (fading), we recommend changing the direction of your rug every 2 to 6 months.
Expert Care (Professional Cleaning)
Delicate materials such as handwoven fibers, TENCEL™, viscose, and New Zealand wool should not come into contact with household chemical cleaners. These products can irreversibly damage the rug’s silky sheen and structural integrity. For deep cleaning, seek assistance only from professional rug-care centers specializing in natural fibers.
Washing Instructions
The delicate pieces in the Carpetdocia collections are not suitable for machine washing due to their construction. (Only specific models clearly marked “Washable” in their names may be washed in household machines using a low-temperature, delicate cycle.)
